First of all, we would like to say welcome to our first entry in our brand new blog! As we continue to populate our site with more and more content, you will find stories about MKM, our clients and even some tips to help you with your own maintenance.

So first thing’s first, who are we?

We are a family run business set up by brothers Steven & Allan McKim. Allan had already built up customer base from his previous 3 years of work in the cleaning industry which then allowed us to create the limited company in June of 2011.

image1Although they have contrasting backgrounds, both Allan and Steve have been able to create a forward-thinking commercial company, built on the diverse range of skills they both bring to the business, which enables them to cater to each customer’s individual needs.

Before trying his hand in the cleaning industry, Allan worked in Aerospace engineering, which involved the production of harrier jets.

Allan was initially attracted into the cleaning industry following on from the Reach & Wash system being used in UK, and has been using it on majority of jobs since.

Allan, got his apprenticeship in Aerospace Engineering soon after leaving school and worked for RSM Aerospace in Farnborough until 2007, moved to Manchester and worked for AMEC for 2 years as a Mechanical Fitter.

2015-05-28 15.09.10While Allan had a more ‘hands-on’ type career previous to MKM, Steven built his previous experience in finance, working as an accountant for various companies in Scotland for the previous 10 years, and this is a skillset that he has carried over into his role at MKM.

Having always had his eye on the Property Management and Maintenance industry, when the opportunity to go into business with his brother Allan presented itself, Steven finally found his way out of Accounting, and the business has continued to grow ever since.

It’s through their contrasting skills that allan & Steven have been able to team up to form a successful business operating out of two major cities in the UK, Glasgow and Manchester.
