Types of Fencing

There are a variety of different types of fencing available and our experts are on hand to help you determine which will be best for you.

Some people may want to install fencing to increase privacy from their neighbours, while others may want to reduce wind. There are different types of fencing options available, including:

  • Slatted Screen: Ideal for both increasing privacy and high quality design. These fences can be used on top of brick walls and will still allow light to pass through.
  • Closeboard: The standard choice for the majority of gardens across Scotland due to its increased privacy is the closeboard style of fencing. The boards are higher than other types of fences and the slates are closer together.
  • Panel Fencing: Similar to a closeboard fence and can be used in for many of the same applications. The top of the fence can include additional patterns offering a better design.
  • Picket Fences: Often used at the entrance to a property panel fencing offers more design than privacy. The fence is installed around the boundary of a property to give a homely feel to the house.
  • Trellising: Square trellis or diamond lattice are added to the top of the fence, which allows plants to grow around it or through it and helps improve the overall look of the garden. This type of fence wouldn’t be suitable for someone whose main priority is privacy.
