One of the best sight you can see are the finishes of a brand new building. They can vary from nice, clean curves or sharp, defined edges, but nothing finishes a corporate building of quite like quality cladding.
Cladding is the application of one material over another to provide skin or layer intended to control the infiltration of weather elements, but also has aesthetic purposes as well as practical. Cladding does not necessarily have to provide a waterproof condition but is instead a control element.
Although practical as we mentioned there are some fantastic examples of cladding work that can really add some real character to a structure.
Like most things though, with time comes dirt, dust and other things that can affect not only the look of the cladding, but lack of care can also cause damage if it’s allowed to worsen.
There are various ways to approach cleaning cladding, and it really depends on the surface. Vertical and flat surfaces are much easier to clean, as we would use the water-fed pole, which we would still use on horizontal surfaces, it just takes a bit longer.
We have previously been asked to use the pressure washer before, but we’re always reluctant to do this as there always the possibility of unwanted water ingress, which can cause damage to the interior of the building and any stock/files that could be in the area when the water comes through.
Height is not an issue for us as we have tackled specialist cleaning since the company started, and we have qualified cherry picker operators on our team. We would bring in the cherry picker for anything 3 stories high and above.
Unfortunately all surfaces are subject to the effects of the elements, and rust is always going to be a problem, and something we see many people struggle with, not only with cladding but a lot of metal structures, which can be easily resolved by our fit for purpose cleaning solutions.
If you’re office has some lovely cladding work, don’t let something like lack of care ruin it. Regular maintenance will be more cost effective in the long and will also keep your place of business looking fresh and clean.
